Most seaweed nonprofits are focused on the conservation and restoration of kelp forests. A growing trend is NGOs engaged in growing and improving the seaweed aquaculture industry.
For some, the focus here is climate change and the ecosystem services of aquaculture farms. For others, the main goal is improving the lives of seaweed farmers in low-income countries.
Besides these NGOs, we are also gathering industry associations and multi-stakeholder platforms that lobby for their members’ interests and connect researchers and organisations across borders and across the value chain.
